Abua/Odual Local Government is one of the 23 Local Government Areas in Rivers State .It is located over 65km away from PH the Rivers State capital. Abua/Odual Local Govt. was created among others in 1991 with its council Administrator as Deacon Reuben Eze Arugu and had since had a long list of 18 chairmen till date. The L.G.A is located within the Rivers west Senatorial Districts of the state and has both River-rine and up-land communities. The Local Govt. is bounded in the north by Ekpeye of Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local government areas ,west by Bayelsa State, East by                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                the Ikewerre of Emuoha L.G.A and South by the Kalabaris of Degema L.G.A. It is located geographicallybetweenlactitude 4.5 & 6.5 degree North of the equator and  longitude 6.0 and 7.0 degree East of the Greenwich meridian Access to major Links is through five major line roads and water ways namely: Abua Ahoada Road, Ahoada ochiba Emughan Abus road, Port Harcourt: Agbonema,Omoku water side, Yenagoa Ididie junction,Imiringi Ogbia Town shell road Emalego road. The L.G.A has a population of about 284,410 comprising 145,243 males and 137,167 females based on 2006 population census. Since the creation 1991 the L.G.A has discharged it’s functions and rendered it’s services to the best of its ability taking into consideration its monthly allocation and peculiar volatile nature all this is to help generate a sense of belonging, safety and satisfaction among its populace. The council has embarked on programmes and provided services that significantly contributed to the sovereignty of the Nigeria nation, promote National integration, and help in the actualization of the potentials of individuals groups and communities as well as provision of social amenities and developmental projects.
